MEMORANDUM

Posted: January 28, 2014 11:50 AM
From: Representative Jerry Stern
To: All House members
Subject: Filling School Board Vacancies for Active Duty Military

In the near future, I plan to introduce legislation that, if enacted, will amend the Public School Code of 1949 to fill the board of school directors' vacancy with a qualified elector of the school district, when any member of a board of school directors is called to active duty in the military or naval forces.

The intent of this provision is to accommodate both those who serve our country and the school district. The General Assembly can help school board directors provide a temporary replacement of any board member called to service regardless of the circumstances.

I hope you will join me as a cosponsor of this legislation. Thank you for your consideration and support.

Introduced as HB2013
