Subject: | Heffley - Amending Clean Streams Law |
Pennsylvania is home to more than 160 fish hatcheries which help provide for our trout stocking programs, fishing recreation, jobs and revenue, and a sustainable food source for our residents. However, environmental regulations in the Commonwealth have created extreme difficulties for these operations, yet they can operate with little impact on our creeks and streams. In the near future, I plan to introduce legislation that would exempt hatcheries built more than 20 years ago in the most rural areas of the Commonwealth from these regulations. This will allow us to continue to balance the protection of our environment with the protection of our small hatchery businesses. Please join me in co-sponsoring this important piece of legislation. |
