MEMORANDUM

Posted: May 10, 2013 04:25 PM
From: Representative Matthew E. Baker
To: All House members
Subject: U.S. Olympic specialty plate

Shortly, I plan to introduce a bill which would amend the Vehicle Code to create a new United States Olympic specialty plate. Vehicle owners would be able to purchase the specialty plate with a design signifying their support for the United States Olympic Team and advancement of excellence in amateur athletic competition in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
This bill provides that by purchasing an Olympic license plate, you will help prepare athletes in Pennsylvania for the Olympic and Paralympic Games, fund community and elite sports programs in Pennsylvania and advance the Olympic Movement, promoting excellence, cultural respect and peace.
The United States Olympic Committee (“USOC”) is able to use the proceeds from this specialty plate to provide young athletes from Pennsylvania with access to some of the best facilities, programs, coaches and competition in order to enhance their ability to compete in Olympic Sports.
Pennsylvania would join 11 other states which currently have their own U.S. Olympic license plate and would help fund future generations of amateur athletics.
