House of Representatives
Session of 2013 - 2014 Regular Session

MEMORANDUM

Posted: May 7, 2013 10:28 AM
From: Representative Jordan A. Harris and Rep. Harold A. English
To: All House members
Subject: Stalking and Social Media

In the near future, we plan to introduce legislation that will amend Title 18 (Crimes and Offenses), § 2709.1 (Stalking), of the Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes in order to explicitly include harassment via social media among the offenses that constitute stalking.

Our legislation will help ensure the laws of the Commonwealth are keeping pace with technological advances such as social media. There should be absolutely no ambiguity when it comes to providing the citizens of Pennsylvania protection against unwanted and harmful communications. Please join us in supporting this important legislation.

Introduced as HB1458
