Subject: Good Samaritan Law (drug overdose)
 
In the near future, I intend to re-introduce former HB 2489, creating a drug overdose Good Samaritan Law for Pennsylvania. Deaths by drug overdose are increasing nationwide and Pennsylvania is no exception. Sadly, all of these deaths are preventable.

A comprehensive public health strategy to prevent overdose deaths should start with the enactment of a Good Samaritan Law to protect those who summon medical assistance for an overdose. Calling 911 should not be a crime. I believe that saving lives is more important than punishing behavior. Please join me in sponsoring this much needed legislation.
