Subject: Legislation Increasing the Fine for Failure to Keep Right

In the near future, I plan to introduce legislation that amends Title 75 (Vehicles) to increase the fine for failure to keep right while driving on a limited access highway from $25 to $100.

As many of you are aware, traveling motorists traveling slowly in the left-hand lane of a limited access highway present both a frustration and danger to other motorists on the highway. The left-hand lane of a limited access highway is intended for motorists to: pass another vehicle, move to allow traffic to merge, travel at a speed greater than the traffic flow, or prepare for a left turn at an intersection or exit. Vehicles traveling at a slow speed in the left-hand lane for an extended period can cause road rage, tailgating, and forces vehicles to pass in the right-hand lane; thereby, diminishing safety on our highways. This legislation increases the fine for failure to keep right in an effort to increase safety and reduce incidences of vehicles traveling in the left-hand lane at slower speeds.

Please join me in sponsoring this important legislation.
