| Subject: | An Act Amending MH/MR Funding for Counties |
| In the near future, I plan to introduce legislation dealing with the inadequate, unfair and inequitable funding formula for MH/MR funding for our counties. Funding for our counties over the last 30 or so years may not represent the actual needs occurring in counties today. There is no perfect funding formula, but I feel my proposal will more closely match the needs to actual dollars available. Population demographics need to be part of any funding formula changes. The following will be contained in my proposal: 75% based on county population 5% population growth (2000-2011) 5% poverty 5% unemployment 5% county square miles 5% contingency This closely matches option #2 of the Funding Formula Options by DPW dated 12/31/2012.
