Subject: | Cosponsorship - Legislation to amend the Liquor Code |
In the near future I plan to introduce legislation to amend the Liquor Code. My legislation would add a non-profit organization whose purpose is to provide funds for research for a cure for Achromatopsia to the list of eligible entities who may obtain a special occasion permit. Achromatopsia is a rare, genetic visual disorder which affects the cones in one’s retina. There is a young man, 6 years old, who lives in my district that was diagnosed with this illness when he only an infant. He suffers from extreme light sensitivity, very poor acuity (the ability to see things clearly at a distance) and a total lack of color vision. These are worthy organizations that will benefit immensely from the ability to raise funds by using a special occasion permit to sell alcohol at their fundraisers. BLE/bmg |
