Subject: | Co-sponsorship of Legislation Prohibiting the Sale or Transfer of a Vehicle with a Suspended Registration or Title |
In the near future, I intend to introduce legislation that would amend Title 75 (Vehicles), Section 1111, of the Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes, to prohibit the sale or transfer of a vehicle with a suspended registration or title. Many times, those who have incurred tickets, try to sell or transfer their motor vehicle. Unbeknownst to the purchaser, the vehicle’s title is suspended and should not have been sold, causing months to go by with no title. Also, all too often vehicles are sold to family members so the suspension is lifted. If enacted, my legislation would prohibit a vehicle from being sold or transferred if the vehicle has a suspended registration or title. My proposal would not allow a vehicle under suspension to be sold or transferred unless all tickets and restoration fees are paid, and the insurance suspension is served. Please join me in co-sponsoring this legislation. |
