Subject: | Night at the Races |
In the near future, I plan to introduce legislation that will give licensed organizations under the Local Option Small Games of Chance Act an opportunity to offer an additional type of game to their patrons. As you know, many of our charitable organizations would like to hold a “Night at the Races” where participants place a wager on a pre-recorded horse race. Several of my organizations have asked me if they are able to do this as a fundraiser and currently, under the Small Games of Chance Act, the game is illegal. Current law states that only punchboards, daily drawings, weekly drawings, 50/50 drawings, raffles, and pull-tabs are permitted to be played by a licensed eligible organization. My legislation would expand this to include “Night at the Races”. Simply put, adding this type of game to current law will provide our local charitable organizations with an additional way to raise money for their organizations. I hope you will join me in co-sponsoring this legislation. |
