Subject: | Unemployment Compensation Reform |
Currently, temporary workers are eligible to receive unemployment compensation even if they fail to notify their temporary employment agency that they have completed their assignment. As a result, temporary employment agencies are often paying unemployment compensation to an individual that they could have put to work. My legislation would require temporary workers to simply contact their temporary employment agency alerting them that their assignment has been completed. The temporary employment agency would be required to keep on file a signed statement from employees that they are aware of this requirement. In this way, more people will be able to benefit from available jobs while employment agencies can spend more of their resources putting people to work.
