Subject: | Exempting Recently Discharged Veterans from Commercial Driver’s License Requirements |
In the near future, I plan to introduce legislation that will amend Title 75 (Vehicles) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes, exempting recently discharged veterans from Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) requirements. My legislation would create a new definition for “recently discharged veteran”, as any individual who was honorably discharged from the United States Armed Forces in the past 4 years. Qualifying veterans would be exempt from obtaining a CDL, thus easing their transition into civilian life, as well as the workforce. I believe it is imperative that we do our part to assist the men and women returning home from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. By giving them an advantage to secure work in order to provide for their families, we can begin to accomplish that goal. Please join me in co-sponsoring this important legislation. |
