House of Representatives
Session of 2013 - 2014 Regular Session

MEMORANDUM

Posted: January 17, 2013 10:10 AM
From: Representative Thomas P. Murt
To: All House members
Subject: PA Human Relations Act - Credit Check for Employment (former HB 2619)

In the near future I plan to reintroduce legislation that would amend the Pennsylvania Human Relations Act by making the credit report requirement, as a condition of employment, an unlawful discriminatory practice.

There are certain criteria that would allow the credit report to be used as a condition of employment, such working for a law enforcement agency or having fiduciary responsibility to mention a couple.

Also, the amending of the Act shall not apply to employment contracts entered into or renewed prior to the effective date of this legislation.

If you have any questions regarding this legislation, please contact my office at 787-6886.
