Subject: | Former House Bill 314 - Classic Vehicle Inspection Exemption |
In the near future I will be reintroducing legislation that will amend the Vehicle Code to permit operation of vehicles that are licensed as Classics to be exempt from safety inspections. Currently Antiques, which are restored or maintained vehicles at least 25 years old or older, are exempt from both safety and any emissions inspections. Classics, which are defined as at least 15 years old and maintained in or restored condition, are only exempt from emissions inspections. Both can only be operated in a limited fashion - no more than one day a week for occasional transportation. While either type of vehicle would not be required to get an inspection or sticker, they would still be required to meet all applicable safety requirements of other vehicles on the road.
