Subject: | Bed and Breakfasts - Former HB 533 |
Pennsylvania is home to more than 110 wineries that attract more than a half million tourists to tasting rooms each year. It is estimated that 33 percent of these tourists are from out-of-state, and that at least 25 percent of them use overnight accommodations. Since many bed and breakfasts are located near wineries throughout the state, I believe that special wine and lodging packages would expand tourism and provide additional support for Pennsylvania’s wineries. I will soon be reintroducing legislation that amends the Pennsylvania Liquor Code to allow bed and breakfast properties to offer a bottle of wine to guests as part of the overnight room rate, regardless of whether the bed and breakfast has a liquor license. If you have any questions, or if you would like a copy of the legislation, please contact Lea Farrell at 787-9033 or lfarrell@pahousegop.com. |
