Subject: Charitable Purposes Act - Volunteer Fire and Youth Athletic Organizations
 
Former House Bill 456 amends Act 202 of 1990 (Solicitation of Funds for Charitable Purposes Act), to exempt youth athletic organizations and volunteer fire organizations from the provisions of Act 202 of 1990.

The registration and reporting requirements within the act place an unfair burden on these important non-profit groups. This exemption would not apply to youth athletic organizations, or volunteer fire organizations which choose to use a professional solicitor or a professional fundraiser in their fundraising activities.
