MEMORANDUM

Posted: January 4, 2013 03:44 PM
From: Representative Mark B. Cohen
To: All House members
Subject: Legislation Providing for Absence from Work In Order to Vote

In the very near future, I will introduce a bill that would amend the Pennsylvania Election Code to require employers in the Commonwealth to provide up to three hours of absence from work in order for employees to vote on an election day without penalty or deduction from salary or wages because of the absence.

As you may know, twenty-nine other states have some requirement for employers to provide time off to vote on an election day.

If you have questions, please contact Linda Huntington in my office at lhunting@pahouse.net or 787-3058.

Introduced as HB1711
