MEMORANDUM

Posted: December 20, 2012 10:12 AM
From: Representative RoseMarie Swanger
To: All House members
Subject: Adding Quick Response Services (QRS) to the Volunteer Fire and Emergency Services Grant Act

I plan to re-introduce HB 787 from the 2011-2012 Session, that will include Volunteer Non-profit Quick Response Services (QRS) in the Volunteer Fire and Emergency Services Grant Act.

Quick Response Services are non-profit chartered corporations, associations or organizations that are recognized by the Pennsylvania Department of Health. QRS’s are regularly engaged in responding to emergencies and providing emergency medical services pending the arrival of ambulance service personnel. They are utilized by fire companies to immediately render first aid.

This legislation will provide that any volunteer non-profit QRS would also be eligible for a grant, in addition to volunteer fire companies and volunteer emergency services.

Previous Co-sponsors of HB 787 from 2011-2012 Session: Swanger, Barrar, Buxton, Caltagirone, D. Costa, Gillespie, Gingrich, Grove, Hornaman, Josephs, Killion, Marsico, Micozzie, Miller, Murphy, Murt, Petri, Rapp, Readshaw, Ross, Tallman, Vulakovich, Youngblood and Davidson.
