Subject: | Auditor General to Conduct Audits of General Assembly |
In the near future, I intend to introduce legislation providing the Pennsylvania Department of the Auditor General with the duty of auditing the financial affairs of the General Assembly and its legislative service agencies, and allows for the Auditor General to perform special audits if deemed necessary. Copies of all audits must then be submitted to the President pro tempore of the Senate, Minority Leader of the Senate, Speaker of the House and the Minority Leader of the House. Currently, the financial affairs of the General Assembly and its legislative service agencies are audited by a certified public accountant, which is retained by the Legislative Audit Advisory Commission. However, I feel it is more appropriate to bestow this responsibility upon the Auditor General. If you have any questions regarding this legislation, please contact Danielle Brown via e-mail at dbrown@pahouse.net or by phone at 783-3815. |
