Subject: Co-sponsorship: Prohibit lobbyists from being PAC Treasurers (HB 1555)
 
In the near future, I plan to re-introduce legislation (HB 1555) to prohibit a lobbyist from holding the position of treasurer for a PAC if the lobbyist represents the interest group comprising the PAC. This change would eliminate the lobbyist having control of the money belonging to those the lobbyist represents. By separating the money from the lobbyist, this legislation will reduce, or reduce the appearance of, the corruption and “payoffs” within the state political system. It is a simple, yet desperately needed, reform measure that I hope will be widely supported.
