RAYMOND E. WILT MEMORIAL HIGHWAY - OFFICIAL DESIGNATION
                  Act of Nov. 1, 1979, P.L. 254, No. 85               Cl. 87
                                  AN ACT

     Naming a portion of Highway Route No. I-279 in Allegheny County,
        the "Raymond E. Wilt Memorial Highway."

        WHEREAS, During his lifetime, Representative Raymond E. Wilt
     was active in both local and State governmental affairs; and
        WHEREAS, Representative Wilt served as a member of the Ross
     Township Volunteer Fire Company, the Ross Township Zoning Board
     of Adjustment and as a Justice of the Peace; and
        WHEREAS, The Honorable Mr. Wilt represented the 29th
     Legislative District, Allegheny County, in the Pennsylvania
     House of Representatives for 20 years; and
        WHEREAS, Mr. Wilt was first elected to the House in 1951 and
     had continuous service up to and including the year 1970; and
        WHEREAS, During his tenure in the House of Representatives,
     he served as Chairman of the House Committee on Highways and as
     a member of the former Pennsylvania Highway Commission. While
     serving in these capacities, Mr. Wilt participated in the
     revitalization of Pennsylvania's highway network, including the
     interstate, primary and secondary highway systems which led to
     the expansion of untold economic development in the areas
     affected by such improvements; and
        WHEREAS, Following his retirement from the House of
     Representatives, Representative Wilt continued to serve the
     Commonwealth as an original member of the Pennsylvania Lottery
     Commission during the period of 1971 to 1976; and
        WHEREAS, To all those who knew him, Mr. Wilt was above all
     else, a true gentleman and friend; therefore in recognition of
     former Representative Raymond E. Wilt's dedicated public
     service;

        The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     hereby enacts as follows:

        Section 1.  Sections four, five and six of Highway Route No.
     I-279 (Legislative Route 10221) extending from the Perrysville
     Avenue Interchange in Ross Township, Allegheny County, to the
     Five Point Interchange in Franklin Park Borough, Allegheny
     County, shall hereafter be known and shall be designated and
     posted by the Department of Transportation as the "Raymond E.
     Wilt Memorial Highway."
        Section 2.  This act shall take effect immediately.
