COUNTIES, WAR MONUMENTS
                 Act of Apr. 27, 1909, P.L. 242, No. 152              Cl. 16
                                  AN ACT

     Providing for the payment to the treasurer of any County
        Soldiers' Memorial Association, within the Commonwealth of
        Pennsylvania, incorporated under the laws of the said
        Commonwealth, of any moneys unexpended, which were
        appropriated by the county commissioners of any county in the
        Commonwealth, under the act of April third, one thousand nine
        hundred and three, to be used solely and exclusively for the
        erection or completion of any monument or memorial to the
        memory of the soldiers and sailors of American wars.

        Compiler's Note:  Section 2901 of Act 130 of 1955 provided
            that Act 152 is repealed insofar as it relates to
            counties of the third to eighth class.
        Compiler's Note:  Section 3301 of Act 230 of 1953 provided
            that Act 152 is repealed insofar as it relates to
            counties of the second class.
        Section 1.  Be it enacted, &c., That in all counties of the
     Commonwealth of the State of Pennsylvania, where appropriations
     have been made by the county commissioners for the erection of
     monuments to the memory of the soldiers and sailors of the civil
     war, under the provisions of an act approved April third, one
     thousand nine hundred and three, and there remains in the
     treasury of any county an unexpended balance, this sum shall,
     upon demand being made by the County Soldiers' Memorial
     Association, through its treasurer, upon the county
     commissioners of any county in this Commonwealth, be paid over
     to the treasurer of the Soldiers' Memorial Association. The
     county commissioners shall forthwith issue a warrant upon the
     county treasurer of said county for the unexpended balance, this
     money to be used solely and exclusively for the erection or
     completion of any monument or memorial in memory of the soldiers
     and sailors of American wars.
        Section 2.  The treasurer of the Soldiers' or Sailors'
     Memorial Association of any county of this Commonwealth, on
     receiving any such balance referred to in section one of this
     act, shall file a bond in the court of common pleas or other
     competent court of said county, in double the amount of the sum,
     which bond shall be approved by said court, for the faithful
     performance of the duties incumbent upon him by the requirements
     of this act.
