A RESOLUTION
Recognizing the month of October 2024 as "Crime Prevention
Month" in Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, In 1984, October was designated as "Crime Prevention
Month" through a presidential proclamation, raising awareness
about the types of crimes that affect communities and providing
valuable information on how individuals and organizations can
work together to combat them; and
WHEREAS, Since then, the National Crime Prevention Council
has annually designated the month of October as "Crime
Prevention Month," the official month for recognizing and
highlighting the practice of crime prevention; and
WHEREAS, The National Crime Prevention Council partners with
prevention organizations, justice advocates and other
professionals to build and sustain relationships with residents
and public officials, promoting a national crime prevention
agenda that will reduce the incidence of crime while helping
communities identify and address the underlying causes of crime;

WHEREAS, The National Crime Prevention Council collaborates
with local law enforcement, government agencies, civic groups,
educational institutions, businesses and other organizations to
spread the word about crime prevention and personal safety; and
WHEREAS, Communities nationwide come together to observe
"Crime Prevention Month," focusing on strategies and initiatives
to reduce crime, enhance safety and strengthen security within
our neighborhoods; and
WHEREAS, Crime prevention requires a multifaceted approach
that involves collaboration between law enforcement agencies,
community organizations and residents; and
WHEREAS, "Crime Prevention Month" serves as an opportunity to
educate the public about various crime prevention strategies,
including personal safety, home security and community
engagement; and
WHEREAS, "Crime Prevention Month" encourages communities to
take proactive measures and actively participate in making their
neighborhoods safer, fostering a sense of unity and shared
responsibility; and
WHEREAS, "Crime Prevention Month" brings together government
agencies, civic groups, schools, businesses and youth
organizations in a joint effort to promote awareness of
important issues, including victimization, volunteerism and the
creation of healthier, safer communities; and
WHEREAS, In a world where crime rates continue to be a
concern, it is crucial for us all to play our part in crime
prevention and create opportunities for positive change;
therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives recognize the

Pennsylvania; and be it further
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives support the goals
and ideals of "Crime Prevention Month" and all other efforts to
encourage greater public involvement in crime prevention
efforts.
