A RESOLUTION
Recognizing June 14, 2021, as "National Flag Day" in
Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, The flag consisting of "thirteen stripes, alternate
red and white; that the Union be thirteen stars, white in a blue
field, representing a new Constellation" was adopted by
resolution of the Second Continental Congress on June 14, 1777;
and
WHEREAS, On June 14, 1937, the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
became the first state of the Union to celebrate Flag Day as an
official state holiday; and
WHEREAS, The flag we fondly know today as the "Stars and
Stripes" continues to unify our Nation's fifty states as one
Great Republic; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate recognize June 14, 2021, as
"National Flag Day" in Pennsylvania; and be it further
RESOLVED, That the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania shall
continue to recognize "Flag Day" and honor the flag of the
United States of America, a symbol of hope and freedom; and be

RESOLVED, That the Senate recognize those who sacrificed and
fought gallantly with perseverance, determination and valor for
our Nation in its quest for liberty and justice, standing united
as One Nation Under God.
