A RESOLUTION
Honoring the life and achievements of Pennsylvania State Senator
David J. Arnold, Jr.
WHEREAS, David "Dave" J. Arnold, Jr., passed away January 17,
2021, at the age of 49 after a 15-month battle with brain
cancer; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Arnold was a lifelong resident of Lebanon County
and graduated from Cedar Crest High School in 1989; and
WHEREAS, After high school, Mr. Arnold earned his bachelors
degree in criminal justice at Kutztown University; and
WHEREAS, In 1996, Mr. Arnold earned his law degree from
Widener University School of Law, passed the bar exam and began
a long legal career; and
WHEREAS, After working at the Lebanon County District
Attorney's Office and in private practice, he successfully ran

to be Lebanon County's District Attorney in 2005; and
WHEREAS, He held that position for 14 years until being
elected to the State Senate and, from 2016-2017, he served as
president of the Pennsylvania District Attorney's Association;
and
WHEREAS, After the then State Senator for the 48th district
in Pennsylvania resigned, Mr. Arnold announced he would be
entering the race as a Republican; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Arnold was selected as the Republican nominee
from a pool of seven candidates and campaigned on the issue of
eliminating child pornography; and
WHEREAS, In January 2020, Mr. Arnold won the special election
with nearly two thirds of the vote and began to serve his
beloved Lebanon County, and portions of both York and Dauphin
counties, in the State Senate; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Arnold chose to forego his optional pension
package and salary, preferring to serve the public in hopes of
making things better for the public; and
WHEREAS, Despite his cancer diagnosis and medical treatments,
Mr. Arnold tirelessly pushed to increase penalties for child
pornography-related offenses and had planned to continue to do
so in the 2021-2022 session; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Arnold is survived by his wife, Alicia, and his
daughter, Reese; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate honor the life and achievements of
Pennsylvania State Senator David J. Arnold, Jr.
