AN ACT
Designating a bridge, identified as Bridge Key 41272, on that
portion of Pennsylvania Route 286 over Crooked Creek, Rayne
Township, Indiana County, as the Sergeant First Class Randy
McCaulley Memorial Bridge.
The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
hereby enacts as follows:
Section 1. Sergeant First Class Randy McCaulley Memorial
Bridge.
(a) Findings.--The General Assembly finds and declares as
follows:
(1) Sergeant First Class Randy McCaulley enlisted in the
Army after graduating from Marion Center High School in 1979
and served for four years.
(2) In 1984, SFC McCaulley joined the Pennsylvania
National Guard and was assigned to Company A, 1st Battalion,
110th Infantry based in Indiana, Pennsylvania.
(3) Company A, which included SFC McCaulley, was
mobilized in January 2005 and arrived for service in June
2005 with the 2nd Brigade Combat Team in Ramadi, about 65

miles west of Baghdad.
(4) On March 23, 2006, SFC McCaulley was shot and killed
by small arms fire while on a combat patrol with his unit in
Mudiq, Iraq.
(5) The Pennsylvania National Guard posthumously
promoted SFC McCaulley from staff sergeant to sergeant first
class and he was awarded the Purple Heart.
(b) Designation.--The bridge, identified as Bridge Key
41272, located on Pennsylvania Route 286 over Crooked Creek in
Rayne Township, Indiana County, is designated the Sergeant First
Class Randy McCaulley Memorial Bridge.
(c) Signs.--The Department of Transportation shall erect and
maintain appropriate signs displaying the name of the bridge to
traffic in both directions on the bridge.
Section 2. Effective date.
This act shall take effect in 60 days.
