AN ACT
Amending the act of September 30, 1983 (P.L.160, No.39),
entitled "An act establishing salaries and compensation of
certain public officials including justices and judges of
Statewide courts, judges of courts of common pleas, judges of
the Philadelphia Municipal Court, judges of the Philadelphia
Traffic Court, district justices and the Governor, the
Lieutenant Governor, the State Treasurer, the Auditor
General, the Attorney General and certain other State
officers and the salary and certain expenses of the members
of the General Assembly; and repealing certain inconsistent
acts," further providing for members of the General Assembly.
The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
hereby enacts as follows:
Section 1. Section 4(a) of the act of September 30, 1983
(P.L.160, No.39), known as the Public Official Compensation Law,
is amended to read:
Section 4. Members of the General Assembly.
(a) Members salary, expense and mileage.--
(1) The salary of members of the General Assembly shall
be $47,000 per annum and mileage to and from their homes at
the rate of 20ยข per mile, circular, for each week a member
was in actual attendance in session between their homes and

the State Capitol and, except as provided herein, no other
compensation shall be allowed whatsoever, except each member
of the General Assembly shall receive an allocation for
clerical assistance and other expenses incurred during his
term in connection with the duties of his office in the sum
of $7,500 annually; the salary to be payable in equal monthly
installments the first day of the month, including the
installment due December 1 of each even-numbered year.
(2) Notwithstanding paragraph (1), during the
proclamation of disaster emergency issued by the Governor on
March 6, 2020, published at 50 Pa.B. 1644 (March 21, 2020),
and any renewal of the state of disaster emergency, no member
of the General Assembly may receive a per diem or payment for
additional expenses. On a quarterly basis, unencumbered funds
appropriated to the General Assembly dedicated to per diem or
payment for additional expenses shall be transferred by the
State Treasurer to a restricted account in the General Fund
to be used by the Department of Community and Economic
Development to provide grants to small businesses through the
COVID-19 Relief - Statewide Small Business Assistance
Program.
