AN ACT
Amending Title 75 (Vehicles) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
Statutes, in licensing of drivers, further providing for
issuance and content of driver's license.
The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
hereby enacts as follows:
Section 1. Section 1510 of Title 75 of the Pennsylvania
Consolidated Statutes is amended by adding subsections to read:
§ 1510. Issuance and content of driver's license.

(d.1) Deafness or hearing impairment designation.--
(1) An individual who is deaf or has a hearing
impairment may request to have a d eafness or hearing
impairment identifier symbol placed on the individual's
driver's license or identification card.
(2) The individual shall present the department with a
sworn statement signed by a qualified medical professional
certifying that the individual is deaf or has a hearing
impairment.

(3) The department shall promulgate regulations
necessary to administer this subsection.

(k) Definition.--As used in this section, the term
"qualified medical professional" means a physician as defined
under 1 Pa.C.S. § 1991 (relating to definitions).
Section 2. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
