A RESOLUTION
Urging all Commonwealth agencies to remove social media accounts
from social networking platforms that censor content.
WHEREAS, The First Amendment to the Constitution of the
United States reads in part that "Congress shall make no
law...abridging the freedom of speech"; and
WHEREAS, Section 7 of Article I of the Constitution of
Pennsylvania reads in part that "The free communication of
thoughts and opinions is one of the invaluable rights of man,
and every citizen may freely speak, write and print on any
subject, being responsible for the abuse of that liberty"; and
WHEREAS, Pennsylvania governmental agencies use official
social media accounts to communicate with the public; and
WHEREAS, Some social media platforms censor the content that
is placed on a platform; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives urge all
Commonwealth agencies to remove social media accounts from
social networking platforms that censor content; and be it
further

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives encourage
government agencies to switch from social media platforms that
censor content to alternative platforms that respect the First
Amendment right of all Americans.
