WHEREAS, At least one hub must demonstrate hydrogen use in
power generation, at least one hub must demonstrate hydrogen use
in the industrial sector, at least one hub must demonstrate
hydrogen use in residential and commercial heating and at least
one hub must demonstrate hydrogen use in transportation; and
WHEREAS, Recognizing the value of clean hydrogen hubs,
Congress has directed the United States Department of Energy to
solicit proposals for regional hubs within 180 days of enactment
of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act and select at
least four regional hubs within one year of the application
submission deadline; and
WHEREAS, Under the geographic diversity requirement of the
Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, at least two hubs should
be located in regions of the United States with the greatest
natural gas resources; and
WHEREAS, Pennsylvania is ranked as the second largest
producer of natural gas in the United States; and
WHEREAS, The southeastern region of this Commonwealth
includes Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery and Philadelphia
Counties; and
WHEREAS, Given the southeastern region's geographic location
and that the region is home to the Marcus Hook Industrial
Complex, a major natural gas hub, consideration should be given
to the placement of a hydrogen hub in this region; and
WHEREAS, The residents of the southeastern region would
benefit greatly from the establishment of a hydrogen hub, which
would not only bring new jobs and stimulate the economy of this
region, but would also position Pennsylvania to be a leader of a
new and growing alternative energy technology; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the
