A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
Adopting a population data set without adjusting any group
quarters population for use in congressional redistricting
legislation.
WHEREAS, Redistricting of congressional seats is required
following each decennial United States Census to equalize
district populations; and
WHEREAS, Accurate population data are the foundation for a
fair redistricting process; and
WHEREAS, The United States Census Bureau provided population
data to Pennsylvania on August 12, 2021; therefore be it
RESOLVED (the Senate concurring), That the General Assembly
adopt the population data set without adjusting any group
quarters population, which was certified by Resolution 6B by the
Legislative Reapportionment Commission on October 25, 2021, as
usable for purposes other than reapportioning the General
Assembly, for use in any congressional redistricting legislation
considered prior to the next United States decennial census.
