A RESOLUTION
Honoring the life of United States Capitol Police Officer Brian
D. Sicknick.
WHEREAS, The people of the United States, the people of
Pennsylvania and our institutions of democracy are safeguarded
by peace officers who dedicate themselves to the security and
safety of our nation and our State; and
WHEREAS, In this Commonwealth, the Bureau of Police and
Safety, commonly known as the Pennsylvania Capitol Police, has
maintained a safe and secure environment for employees and
visitors in the Pennsylvania Capitol Complex since its
establishment in 1895; and
WHEREAS, United States Capitol Police Officer Brian D.
Sicknick was born in South River, New Jersey, and was a member
of the New Jersey Air National Guard, where he served in Saudi
Arabia and Kyrgyzstan; and
WHEREAS, Officer Sicknick joined the United States Capitol
Police Department in 2008, where he continued to live up to the
oath he swore in the military "to protect and defend the
