A RESOLUTION
Condemning President Donald J. Trump for his involvement in the
insurrection against the United States Capitol Building on
January 6, 2021.
WHEREAS, Members of Congress met in a joint session in the
United States Capitol Building on January 6, 2021, to officially
tally the Electoral College votes for President and Vice
President of the United States; and
WHEREAS, President Donald Trump urged his supporters to march
to the United States Capitol Building; and
WHEREAS, The largely ceremonial event to affirm that
President-elect Joe Biden won the November 2020 election was
halted as pro-President Trump domestic terrorists broke through
blockades around the United States Capitol Building; and
WHEREAS, United States Capitol Police ordered the evacuation
of the House Cannon building and the Library of Congress; and
WHEREAS, Pipe bombs were found at the headquarters of the
Democratic and Republican National Committees; and

WHEREAS, The terrorists scaled the walls of the United States
Capitol Building, attacked police and shattered windows in order
to enter the building; and
WHEREAS, After forcing their way into the United States
Capitol Building, the terrorists began roaming the hallowed
halls of Congress; and
WHEREAS, Vice President Mike Pence, who was presiding over
the joint session of Congress, Senate president pro tempore
Chuck Grassley, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi and other
lawmakers were rushed to secure locations; and
WHEREAS, During their evacuation, dedicated and selfless
staffers had the foresight to rescue the boxes containing the
Electoral College ballots; and
WHEREAS, The doors of the Senate were locked while the doors
to the House of Representatives were physically barricaded; and
WHEREAS, The terrorists destroyed Federal property and
pillaged congressional offices; and
WHEREAS, The offices of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and the
Senate parliamentarian were ransacked; and
WHEREAS, Terrorists soon entered the floors of the House and
Senate, many impudently posing for photographs; and
WHEREAS, Lawmakers and their staff were forced to remain
sheltered in place as the terrorists raged; and
WHEREAS, Washington DC Mayor Muriel Bowser issued a citywide
curfew beginning at 6:00 p.m. in response to the unprecedented
situation; and
WHEREAS, A tweet by President Trump did not encourage the
domestic terrorists to disperse; and
WHEREAS, Ivanka Trump called the terrorists, "American
Patriots," in a tweet of her own; and

WHEREAS, Hours after the attack on the United States Capitol
Building began, President Trump finally dispatched the National
Guard to clear the terrorists from the grounds; and
WHEREAS, Multiple law enforcement officers were injured by
the violent mob; and
WHEREAS, United States Capitol Police Officer Brian D.
Sicknick died as a result of injuries sustained in his defense
of the United States Capitol Building; and
WHEREAS, After police cleared the United States Capitol
Building, Speaker Pelosi said that Congress intended to
reconvene to finish the tally of the Electoral College votes;
and
WHEREAS, Congress finished counting the Electoral College
votes in the early hours of the morning January 7, 2021; and
WHEREAS, The final vote totals were 306 votes for Joseph R.
Biden and 232 for Donald J. Trump; and
WHEREAS, President-elect Joe Biden rightfully stated, "It's
not protest. It's insurrection."; and
WHEREAS, The attack on the United States Capitol Building was
an attack against our very democracy; and
WHEREAS, The terrorists involved in the insurrection are
unpatriotic and must be held accountable to the fullest extent
of the law; and
WHEREAS, We have a responsibility, not only as elected
officials, but as citizens, to stand up against these treasonous
actions; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives condemn President
Donald J. Trump for his involvement in the insurrection against
the United States Capitol Building on January 6, 2021; and be it
further

RESOLVED, That we declare the actions of these domestic
terrorists to be antithetical to the ideals of this nation and
of this Commonwealth; and be it further
RESOLVED, That we call upon our colleagues in the Senate to
condemn the insurrection against the United States Capitol
Building; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be transmitted to
Donald J. Trump, Joseph R. Biden, Jr., and to each member of
Congress from Pennsylvania.
