AN ACT
Amending the act of June 13, 1967 (P.L.31, No.21), entitled "An
act to consolidate, editorially revise, and codify the public
welfare laws of the Commonwealth," in public assistance,
further providing for reimbursement for certain medical
assistance items and services.
The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
hereby enacts as follows:
Section 1. Section 443.6 of the act of June 13, 1967
(P.L.31, No.21), known as the Human Services Code, is amended by
adding a subsection to read:
Section 443.6. Reimbursement for Certain Medical Assistance
Items and Services.--* * *
(h) Payment for medical assistance capitation and fee-for-
service for ambulance transportation shall be as follows:
(1) Except as provided under paragraph (3), for basic life
support, not less than three hundred twenty-five dollars ($325).
(2) Except as provided under paragraph (3), for advanced

life support, not less than four hundred dollars ($400).
(3) For areas designated as super-rural by the Centers for
Medicare and Medicaid, for basic life support and advanced life
support, an additional ten percent add-on shall be added to the
rural rate for ambulance service originating in the super-rural
area.
(4) Notwithstanding any other law, payments made under this
section shall be made in accordance with Medicare guidelines for
ambulance services for the following:
(i) Each authorized medically necessary ambulance service.
(ii) Each loaded ground mileage at a rate of not less than
four dollars ($4) for each loaded mile.
(iii) Each ambulance inflation factor.
Section 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
