AN ACT
Amending Title 74 (Transportation) of the Pennsylvania
Consolidated Statutes, in turnpike, further providing for
commission powers and duties.
The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
hereby enacts as follows:
Section 1. Section 8107 of Title 74 of the Pennsylvania
Consolidated Statutes is amended by adding a subsection to read:
ยง 8107. Commission powers and duties.

(c) Toll collectors.--
(1) Notwithstanding any other provision of law, the
commission shall employ individuals as toll collectors at
each facility designed for the collection of cash payment of
tolls on the turnpike. Toll collectors shall be available to
collect payment at each tolling facility during peak hours as
described under paragraph (2).
(2) The following apply to peak hours:
(i) Peak hours shall be determined by the

commission.
(ii) Peak hours shall be the hours that the
commission determines that the highest volume of vehicles
passes through a tolling facility.
(iii) Peak hours shall be no fewer than 12
consecutive hours in a 24-hour period.
(iv) Peak hours may be different among tolling
facilities.
(v) Outside of peak hours, a toll may be collected
by electronic toll collection and a violation enforcement
system.
(3) As used in this subsection, the term "toll
collector" means an individual who is employed at the
commission's discretion and is responsible for collecting
prescribed tolls from a driver who passes through a tolling
facility.
Section 2. This act shall take effect in 90 days.
