AN ACT
Amending the act of March 10, 1949 (P.L.30, No.14), entitled "An
act relating to the public school system, including certain
provisions applicable as well to private and parochial
schools; amending, revising, consolidating and changing the
laws relating thereto," in pupils and attendance, further
providing for definition of children with exceptionalities
and reports and examination.
The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
hereby enacts as follows:
Section 1. Section 1371 of the act of March 10, 1949
(P.L.30, No.14), known as the Public School Code of 1949, is
amended to read:
Section 1371. Definition of Children with Exceptionalities;
Reports; Examination.--(1) The term "children with
exceptionalities" shall mean children of school age who have a
disability, including, but not limited to, dyslexia, or who are
gifted and who, by reason thereof, need specially designed
instruction.
(2) It shall be the duty of the district superintendent, in
every school district in accordance with rules of procedure
