WHEREAS, In Philadelphia, the General Building Contractors
Association organizes an annual food drive to end hunger, and
this year's food drive collected more than 5,000 pounds of
produce; and
WHEREAS, In Allegheny County in the early 1990s, the Master
Builders' Association of Western Pennsylvania, Inc., and the
Keystone Mountain Lakes Regional Council of Carpenters started
the Rebuilding Together Pittsburgh organization, which renovates
more than 30 homes each year for disabled or low-income
residents; and
WHEREAS, Across this Commonwealth, Rebuilding Together
chapters and Habitat for Humanity are successful due to the
resources provided by the construction industry; and
WHEREAS, Throughout this Commonwealth, the Keystone
Contractors Association organizes a Statewide toy drive during
November so that those less fortunate can enjoy a memorable
holiday season; and
WHEREAS, Construction professionals embark in countless
community service volunteer activities during the year that are
honored during November; and
WHEREAS, There are hundreds of charities and organizations in
this Commonwealth that rely on the goodwill of the construction
industry to operate; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate designate the month of November
2019 as "Construction Cares Month" in Pennsylvania.
