A RESOLUTION
Recognizing September 23, 2019, as "Teal Talk Day" in
Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, The American Cancer Society ranks ovarian cancer as
the sixth highest contributor to death in the United States from
2012 through 2016; and
WHEREAS, Nationally, women with ovarian cancer have a five-
year survival rate that has increased 16% since 1985; and
WHEREAS, Since 1985, the rate of new cases has dropped by 40%
and the fatality rate has decreased by 29%; and
WHEREAS, Early detection drastically improves the survival
rate of those diagnosed with the disease; and
WHEREAS, The Senate acknowledges the struggles women and
their families face during cancer treatments; and
WHEREAS, The Senate joins the survivors and the volunteers
and health professionals across our Commonwealth who are
observing "Teal Talk Day" by starting a dialogue to raise
awareness of this tragic disease; and

WHEREAS, On "Teal Talk Day," events are held throughout the
Commonwealth to encourage an open dialogue of family history,
risk factors and monitoring practices with a medical
professional and promote the high success rate of early
detection; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate recognize September 23, 2019, as
"Teal Talk Day" in Pennsylvania.
