A RESOLUTION
Recognizing the week of May 18 through 24, 2019, as "National
Safe Boating Week" in Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, Pennsylvania contains 85,000 miles of rivers and
streams; and
WHEREAS, Pennsylvania law requires anyone born after January
1, 1982, to obtain a boating safety certificate to operate a
personal watercraft or powerboat with a motor greater than 25
horsepower; and
WHEREAS, Coast Guard-approved life jackets are required
aboard each watercraft; and
WHEREAS, Safe boating practices are everyone's
responsibility; and
WHEREAS, Recognizing safe boating practices provides boating
groups with the opportunity to promote boating safety and the
importance of wearing a life jacket while enjoying
Pennsylvania's rivers, streams and lakes; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate recognize the week of May 18
