AN ACT
Amending Title 46 (Legislature) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
Statutes, providing for officers and leaders.
The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
hereby enacts as follows:
Section 1. Title 46 of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
Statutes is amended by adding a part to read:

§ 1501. Senate.
(a) Appointment to standing committees.--
(1) The President pro tempore of the Senate shall

appoint a majority chairperson and majority members to each
of the standing committees of the Senate.
(2) The Minority Leader of the Senate shall appoint a
minority chairperson and minority members to each of the
standing committees of the Senate.
(b) Term.--No committee chairperson appointed under
subsection (a) may hold the same position for more than eight
years.
§ 1502. House of Representatives.
(a) Appointment to standing committees.--
(1) The Speaker of the House of Representatives shall
appoint a majority chairperson and majority members to each
of the standing committees of the House of Representatives.
(2) The Minority Leader of the House of Representatives
shall appoint a minority chairperson and minority members to
each of the standing committees of the House of
Representatives.
(b) Term.--No committee chairperson appointed under
subsection (a) may hold the same position for more than eight
years.
Section 2. This act shall take effect November 30, 2020.
