A RESOLUTION
Urging the Congress of the United States to pass H.R. 6420 and
update the CARES act to allow children younger than 19 years
of age, students 24 years of age and younger and all disabled
dependents to receive direct cash payments from the Federal
Government.
WHEREAS, Working Pennsylvanians across this Commonwealth face
uncertainty and hardship due to the COVID-19 pandemic; and
WHEREAS, On March 27, 2020, the Congress of the United States
enacted the Federal Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic
Security (CARES) Act (Public Law 116-136, 134 Stat. 281) to
provide emergency assistance and financial relief to
individuals, families and businesses during the COVID-19
pandemic; and
WHEREAS, The CARES act provides direct cash payments of
$1,200 for adults and $500 for dependent children 16 years of
age and younger; and
WHEREAS, The CARES act does not provide any kind of payments
to dependents 17 years of age and older; and
WHEREAS, The COVID-19 pandemic has caused millions of college
