A RESOLUTION
Recognizing the week of June 15 through 21, 2020, as "Men's
Health Week" in Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, Despite advances in medical technology and research,
women continue to outlive men by an average of five years; and
WHEREAS, Many of the causes of premature death among men are
preventable or treatable if caught in the early stages; and
WHEREAS, A healthy lifestyle that includes screening for
major health problems and regular health care monitoring
beginning in childhood can decrease the risk of disease and
death; and
WHEREAS, "Men's Health Week" is set aside for reflection and
action to improve the health of men in our communities; and
WHEREAS, The purpose of "Men's Health Week" is to heighten
awareness of preventable health problems and encourage early
detection and early treatment of disease among men and boys; and
WHEREAS, As part of this observance, the Centers for Disease
