A RESOLUTION
Urging Major League Baseball to revise its plan to eliminate
affiliation with three Minor League Baseball teams in
Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, Residents of this Commonwealth enjoy all levels of
baseball, from tee ball to the major leagues; and
WHEREAS, Minor League Baseball teams provide affordable
family entertainment for all ages and offer fans a chance to see
up and coming stars on their way to Major League Baseball or the
chance to see a recovering major league player; and
WHEREAS, Sadly, Major League Baseball is currently
considering eliminating its affiliation with 42 minor league
teams, three of which are located in Pennsylvania: the Erie
SeaWolves, the State College Spikes and the Williamsport
Crosscutters; and
WHEREAS, These teams are major economic drivers to
communities in this Commonwealth, providing jobs and tax revenue
while benefiting local business from the flow of people shopping

while attending games; and
WHEREAS, The loss of these three teams will be heavily felt
by their communities, not only economically, but through the
loss of affordable family fun and untold memories while
attending games; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the
Commonwealth of Pennsylvania urge Major League Baseball to
strongly reconsider eliminating its affiliation with the Erie
SeaWolves, the State College Spikes and the Williamsport
Crosscutters in order to consider the economic and social
impacts on the communities these teams call home; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be sent to Rob
Manfred, Commissioner of Baseball for Major League Baseball.
