A RESOLUTION
Recognizing November 3, 2019, as "One Health Day" in
Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, One Health is the concept that the health of humans,
animals, plants and the environment are closely linked; and
WHEREAS, "One Health Day" is celebrated around the globe to
highlight, promote and raise awareness about a One Health
approach to address complex health problems confronting humans,
animals, plants and the environment; and
WHEREAS, The Commonwealth is committed to the health, safety
and well-being of all Pennsylvanians, the health and well-being
of domestic animals and free-ranging wild animals in this
Commonwealth and the health of the environment; and
WHEREAS, Our economy is dependent on healthy humans, animals,
plants and the environment; and
WHEREAS, Infectious diseases have the potential to
significantly harm this Commonwealth's economic and social well-
being; and

WHEREAS, Preventing infectious and vector-borne diseases and
limiting their spread from the environment to animals and
eventually to humans is both environmentally responsible and
economically beneficial; and
WHEREAS, The best health for humans, animals, plants and the
environment can only be achieved through the collaborative
efforts of multiple disciplines and organizations working
locally, regionally, nationally and globally; and
WHEREAS, The American Medical Association, American Nurses
Association, American Public Health Association, American
Veterinary Medical Association, Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention, United States Department of Agriculture and its
Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service, World Health
Organization and other partners acknowledge and encourage
increased collaboration of disciplines and organizations to
achieve the best health for humans, animals, plants and the
environment; and
WHEREAS, The goal of "One Health Day" is to build global
attention to human, animal, plant and environmental health
challenges and promote collaborative approaches; and
WHEREAS, The Commonwealth has established a One Health Task
Force that is diligently working to broaden the collaborative
actions of Commonwealth agencies and our partners concerned with
attaining optimal health for humans, animals, plants and the
environment; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives recognize
November 3, 2019, as "One Health Day" in Pennsylvania and join
other states and countries in celebrating "One Health Day."
