A RESOLUTION
Designating November 30, 2019, as "Small Business Saturday" in
Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, Half of the United States population owns or works
for a small business; and
WHEREAS, An estimated two out of every three new jobs are
produced by small businesses nationwide; and
WHEREAS, Statewide, small businesses comprise 99.6% of all
employers and 2.5 million private-sector employees while still
attracting new investments and new jobs; and
WHEREAS, The 1 million small businesses in this Commonwealth
contribute billions of dollars in annual income, including
benefits; and
WHEREAS, Small businesses working with the Office of Small
Business Advocate have secured annual utility cost savings of
$35 million; and

WHEREAS, Significant cumulative utility cost savings, nearing
$130 million, are projected over the next three years; and
WHEREAS, Commonwealth initiatives provide resources, training
and other assistance for the licensing and progress of small
businesses in our communities; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives designate
November 30, 2019, as "Small Business Saturday" in Pennsylvania.
