A RESOLUTION
Designating the week of October 13 through 19, 2019, as
"International Central Service Week" in Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, Central service departments in health care
facilities are responsible for cleaning, assembling,
sterilizing, storing and distributing medical devices and
supplies needed for patient care; and
WHEREAS, Central service technicians ensure that medical
staff in operating rooms, intensive care units, endoscopy
suites, birth centers and other patient care areas receive
sterile surgical instruments, supplies and equipment integral in
providing the best possible patient care; and
WHEREAS, "International Central Service Week" is celebrated
annually in October to recognize the committed specialists that
fill central service departments and make a difference in
patient care throughout the United States; and
WHEREAS, Central service professionals demonstrate an ongoing
diligence to meet the growing needs of the medical community,

and their expertise has become increasingly important to help
patients achieve the best possible outcomes; and
WHEREAS, Cleanliness is critical at all health care
facilities across this Commonwealth, and commitment to
maintaining high standards of sanitation by central service
technicians is crucial in keeping Pennsylvanians safe; therefore
be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives designate the
week of October 13 through 19, 2019, as "International Central
Service Week" in Pennsylvania; and be it further
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives applaud all
central service professionals for ensuring quality care and
service throughout this Commonwealth and encourage all
Pennsylvanians to learn more about the central service
profession and the role these dedicated professionals play.
