A RESOLUTION
Recognizing October 19, 2019, as "Chester County Clean Energy
Day" in Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, Energy efficiency is the cheapest, quickest and
cleanest way to meet our energy needs and reduce utility bills
for residential, business and industrial customers; and
WHEREAS, Smarter energy use reduces the amount of electricity
needed to power our lives, which helps avoid power plant
emissions that can harm our health, pollute our air and warm our
climate; and
WHEREAS, Cutting energy waste saves United States consumers
billions of dollars on utility bills annually, up to $500 per
household, from appliance efficiency standards alone; and
WHEREAS, Implementing energy efficiency and other clean
energy policies and programs helps boost economic opportunities
and job creation while continuing to move toward a sustainable
future; and
WHEREAS, Clean energy jobs in Pennsylvania added 5,000 jobs
in 2018, which is five times faster than the overall economic

growth in this Commonwealth; and
WHEREAS, More than 5,000 Chester County residents work in
clean and renewable energy jobs and more than 3,500 work in the
energy efficiency sector in local, well-paying jobs that cannot
be outsourced, and by increasing efficiency, more of these jobs
will be created; and
WHEREAS, For cities and states tackling harmful pollution,
energy efficiency can help reach climate goals and is the
foundational step in assessing the need for local renewable
energy generation; and
WHEREAS, Chester County is a Statewide leader in renewable
energy with more than 20 megawatt and more than 840 clean energy
installations in place, including at county businesses,
universities, schools, homes, farms and nonprofits; and
WHEREAS, The residents of Chester County can continue to
contribute to our energy efficiency efforts by learning about
their options and participating in the Chester County Clean
Energy Open House Tour on October 19; and
WHEREAS, Together, the residents of this Commonwealth can
continue to contribute to our sustainability efforts by learning
more about energy efficiency, practicing smarter energy use in
their daily lives and purchasing electricity from a renewable
energy provider; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives recognize
October 19, 2019, as "Chester County Clean Energy Day" in
Pennsylvania; and be it further
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives urge residents to
join in support of clean energy goals and moving toward a more
energy efficient present and future.
