A RESOLUTION
Recognizing the month of October 2019 as "National Arts and
Humanities Month" in Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, The arts and humanities embody much of the
accumulated wisdom, intellect and imagination of humankind; and
WHEREAS, The arts and humanities enhance and enrich the lives
of every American; and
WHEREAS, The arts and humanities play a unique role in the
lives of our families, communities and country; and
WHEREAS, The nonprofit arts industry strengthens
Pennsylvania's economy by generating $3.4 billion in total
economic activity annually, $402 million in government revenue
and by supporting the full-time equivalent of 100,114 jobs; and
WHEREAS, The month of October has been recognized as
"National Arts and Humanities Month" by thousands of arts and
cultural organizations, communities and states across the

country, as well as the White House and the Congress of the
United States for 30 years; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives recognize the
month of October 2019 as "National Arts and Humanities Month" in
Pennsylvania; and be it further
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives call upon
residents of this Commonwealth to celebrate and promote arts and
culture and encourage residents to take action for the arts and
humanities in their towns and cities.
