A RESOLUTION
Designating the month of April 2019 as "Prevention of Cruelty to
Animals Month" in Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, Animal welfare in the United States was forever
changed in 1954 when the Humane Society of the United States
(Humane Society) was founded by animal rights activists; and
WHEREAS, The Humane Society campaigns for the humane
treatment of animals and fights to ensure public awareness of
the plight of mistreated animals; and
WHEREAS, The Humane Society has championed landmark anti-
cruelty laws and works to ensure their enforcement; and
WHEREAS, The Humane Society also tirelessly supports local
communities in their fight against animal cruelty and the rescue
of animals in crisis; and
