AN ACT
Amending the act of March 10, 1949 (P.L.30, No.14), entitled "An
act relating to the public school system, including certain
provisions applicable as well to private and parochial
schools; amending, revising, consolidating and changing the
laws relating thereto," in school finances, providing for
budget timelines for the 2020-2021 budget process.
The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
hereby enacts as follows:
Section 1. The act of March 10, 1949 (P.L.30, No.14), known
as the Public School Code of 1949, is amended by adding a
section to read:
Section 614.1. Budget Timelines for the 2020-2021 Budget
Process.--(a) Notwithstanding the act of June 27, 2006 (1st
Sp.Sess., P.L.1873, No.1), known as the "Taxpayer Relief Act,"
for the budget process for the fiscal year that begins after
June 30, 2020, the Department of Education shall extend the
deadlines for each board of school directors to prepare and
adopt its budget and establish its rates of taxation.

(b) This section shall expire January 1, 2021.
Section 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
